Evidence to Policy Initiative (E2Pi)
About
The Evidence to Policy Initiative (E2Pi) is a new partnership between SEEK Development and the
Global Health Group at the University of California. It is dedicated to narrowing the gap between evidence synthesis and practical policy-making, to support informed decision-making and accelerate progress in global health. Start-up funding for the E2Pi is provided by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The initiative will maintain strict editorial freedom from its funding sources.
E2Pi Approach
Working in close dialogue with key decision-makers and advocates in global health, E2Pi will conduct independent analysis of existing evidence to help address critical policy and strategic questions of relevance to global health decision makers. To ensure that its products are relevant and timely, E2Pi will maintain a strong link, and at times collaborate, with donor and recipient governments, bilateral and multilateral financing agencies, and global health advocacy organizations. E2Pi products will include impartial, in-depth analyses of "game-changing" strategic topics in global health, as well as shorter policy analyses, briefs and commentaries on key issues requiring a "rapid response."
E2Pi will engage an international network of global health experts with a background in policy, finance, and program implementation to provide critical input into its analyses and recommendations. Experts will be drawn from funding and technical agencies, think tanks and academia, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector. Additional strategic oversight and guidance will be provided by a small advisory board of international leaders in global health and development.
E2Pi has two integrated research "hubs," one in the US and the other in Europe, in order to participate in and influence both the US and European policy dialogues. The US hub is based at the Global Health Group, an "action tank" at the University of California, San Francisco that translates major new approaches to global health challenges into large-scale action. The European hub is based at SEEK Development in Berlin, Germany.

E2Pi is co-led by Sir Richard Feachem, Director of the Global Health Group and former Executive Director of the Global Fund, Dr. Gavin Yamey, E2Pi Lead in San Francisco, and Christina Schrade, Director of SEEK Development and E2Pi Lead in Berlin.
