Projects
Our projects include strategy development exercises, evaluations of organizations and programs, complex change management processes, and the development of new initiatives. We emphasize knowledge development to address key questions in global development and we partner with various organizations in this dimension of our work.
Recent examples of our work include:
- SEEK Development is building an open-access, web-based platform providing analysis on development cooperation policies and funding of the eight biggest European donors. The platform will offer donor profiles on decision-making and financing, a budget and decision tracker and comparative policy analysis. Start-up funding for the platform is provided by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
- The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) commissioned SEEK Development to set out options for improving the health of women and children through strengthening the global financing architecture. The report "Strengthening the Global Financing Architecture for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health: Options for Action" is available on the
PMNCH website. For this report, SEEK Development collaborated with the Global Health Group at the University of California, San Francisco. Report results and recommendations were presented at the 11th PMNCH Board Meeting in Paris on October 25-26, 2011. - Study about a Germany’s engagement for girls in developing countries: SEEK conducted a study about Germany’s policies, actors and projects for girls in developing countries and developed recommendations for how to intensify German engagement. The study was commissioned by Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung.
- Development of technical assistance "profiles" for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The profiles inform about the technical assistance for HIV/AIDS, TA, and malaria, provided by key Global Fund donors. An initial “wave” of profiles is targeted for publication in early 2012. The profiles will become an open-access resource for Global Fund staff, bilaterals, country stakeholders, and the broader global health community.
- SEEK provides strategic and policy advice to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s European office in London on German development politics, with a special focus on issues related to rural development, food security, and global health. We support the foundation’s dialogue with the German government, parliament and civil society.
- Creation of the
Evidence to Policy Initiative (E2Pi) – a new partnership dedicated to narrowing the gap between evidence synthesis and practical policy-making by supporting informed decision-making in global health. The European hub of the initiative is based at SEEK Development, the US hub is based at the Global Health Group, an "action tank" at the University of California, San Francisco that translates major new approaches to global health challenges into large-scale action. - Development of a suite of global "Progress Sheets" on eight major global health challenges for the Living Proof Project,’ a communications and advocacy campaign spearheaded by he Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The sheets, designed for policy makers, synthesize the latest evidence on progress in tackling HIV, TB, malaria, polio, neglected tropical diseases, immunisation, nutrition, and maternal, neonatal, and child health. They document international and domestic investments as well as challenges ahead.
- Development and implementation of a German strategy for policy dialogue and advocacy for the GAVI Alliance (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization), a public private partnership to save children’s lives and protect people’s health by increasing access to immunisation in poor countries. SEEK Development provides support in building a multi-stakeholder dialogue on child health in Germany with the government, civil society and academia.
