As part of our work, SEEK operates the Donor Tracker platform. Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Donor Tracker seeks to unlock advocacy potential in 14 major Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Development Assistance Committee (DAC) donor countries by providing global development advocates with free access to high-level strategic information to support their work. Monitoring and analyzing about 80% of the world’s official development assistance, or ODA, the Donor Tracker provides insights on strategic priorities, funding trends, decision making, budgeting, and an outlook into future spending priorities.

About the role

We are hiring a Donor Tracker Working Student to work 20 hours per week as a key member of our new Donor Tracker Digital Unit.

The Digital Unit is re-imagining the Donor Tracker as an innovative digital product that can even more effectively support global development advocates. Over the coming months, the Digital Unit will be working on:

  • Learning more about our user base and expanding our usership;
  • Developing an evidence base for what works and what doesn’t on our platform;
  • Expanding our in-house knowledge on UI/UX design and digital product development/management;
  • Designing and piloting new digital products and content; and
  • Ramping up our social media and digital marketing.

We are looking for an analytical and creative Working Student to join our fledgling Digital Unit.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conducting user research and testing including surveys, heatmaps, A/B testing, etc.
  • Supporting with the creation of user personas to help guide Donor Tracker digital product strategies (e.g. Design Thinking, Rapid prototyping etc.)
  • Translating findings from user research into action-oriented reports and recommendations to be shared with the larger team
  • Developing wireframes (Balsamiq, Figma) and task flows based on user needs
  • Supporting with the communication of design ideas to developers
  • Sharing UX/UI design expertise to contribute to building internal capacity

Key Requirements

  • Current student earning an advanced degree in business administration, social science, or IT orientation or UI/UX design with interest in project management or other related areas
  • First experience translating data-driven insights into actionable recommendations and user-friendly designs
  •  Experience with a variety of design, wire-framing, and prototyping tools
  • Comfortable explaining design options and technical challenges to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Aptitude for breaking down complex problems and devising creative solutions
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks

Additional Assets

  • Proficiency in UI design software (e.g., Balsamiq, Figma)
  • Experience using HotJar
  • Knowledge of R
  • Understanding of Google Analytics
  • Capabilities with BI tools (Tableau or Power BI)
  • Knowledge of the broad global development agenda, including the sustainable development goals; sectoral expertise in global health, climate, education, gender equality, nutrition, and/or agriculture
