COP26, the UN's climate conference, is set to take place from October 31 to November 12, 2021, in Glasgow, Scotland. The event represents a critical moment for the global community to address climate issues including how it will support low- and middle-income countries in dealing with the climate crisis. To help you prepare, the Donor Tracker team has prepared a brief primer for global development advocates on key issues and programming at COP26.

Germany held historic federal elections on September 26, 2021. With Angela Merkel stepping down after 16 years in power, the election marks the first time since World War II in which an incumbent Chancellor did not stand for re-election.
Funding climate change adaptation: Tools for advocates on the road to COP26
After 18 months of discourse dominated by the COVID-19 crisis, the upcoming 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) will be a critical point for engaging the global community with the climate crisis and solidifying leader support for adaptation policies for climate change impacts.
To support advocates on the road to COP 26, the Donor Tracker team has published a new piece entitled “Funding climate change adaptation: Tools”, which provides 1) a summary of donors’ bilateral ODA for climate change adaptation from 2010-2019, 2) a set of compelling arguments for why donors should increase financing for climate change adaptation, and 3) an overview of donor priorities and commitments in the lead-up to COP26 and beyond
Hunger in times of crisis: Trends in donor financing for food and nutrition security
In 2020, a staggering 33% of the world's population did not have access to adequate food a significant regression in food and nutrition security progress since the turn of the century. Furthermore, the #covid-19 crisis, climate change, and emerging conflicts around the world are beginning to unravel a decade of development progress in food security. This donor tracker insight examines the trends in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) development assistance committee (DAC) donors official development assistance (oda) and policies for food and nutrition-related sectors. It gives recommendations to donor governments on the funding and policies in these sectors needed to meet the SDGs by 2030 and provides advocates with a list of key events to watch.
