Intensified multilateral cooperation on global public goods for health: three opportunities for collective action
In a new policy paper, we’ve examined the potential support for GPGs from four organizations that provide the most development assistance for health: Gavi, the Global Fund, World Bank, and World Health Organization. In light of the critical funding gap, and bilateral funding increasingly tied to foreign policy agendas, we found that these organizations are well-placed to deliver support for GPGs. Further, all four multilaterals want to step up their investments in GPGs, and could immediately intensify their cooperation in three areas.
Empowerment how?
We're proud to present the Donor Tracker's second Highlight Story of the year, which analyzes the priorities of donor countries on gender equality and women's empowerment, how much of their funding on development assistance goes toward this important topic, and in what specific ways.
This Donor Tracker 'Highlight Story' examines funding levels from 2012-2016 for five sectors that are key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as examining their future outlook. Those sectors – agriculture, education, global health, global health R&D, and nutrition – are all 'Deep Dive' areas that the Donor Tracker analyses in addition to individual OECD donor countries.
